What is the Foundation for Glendora Unified Schools?
The Foundation for Glendora Unified Schools is a nonprofit organization established in 2003 by parents and community members to raise money for the Glendora Unified School District. The Foundation’s fundraising efforts are necessary to maintain the quality of public education our community expects. Since 2003, FGUS has provided nearly $500,000 to the District. FGUS works closely with GUSD’s administrators to ensure all funds raised are placed where needed. Click here to see where some of your recent donations have been used.
Budget Crisis
Glendora Unified School District is currently facing a staggering reduction in their school budget due to the record-setting California State deficit and the large statewide decline of student enrollment. Closing an elementary school, losing teachers, counselors, clerical staff, maintenance and custodians, eliminating elementary school music programs, reducing library hours, increasing classroom sizes - all of these are realities that will be in place in our schools starting Fall 2009. Click here to read an important message from Dr. Catherine Nichols, GUSD Superintendent.
How You Can Help
Giving to our schools is a great way to give back to our community that we value so much. With the continuing state budget crisis, it is up to all of us to bridge the education-funding gap. Programs saved from donations and the benefits received by the children in GUSD schools are dependent on funding from school families and the community at large. By making a tax-deductible donation to the Support Our Students campaign, you are showing students their education is a priority in our community. You can make a lump-sum donation or a monthly donation through the Circle of Giving program. Click here for more details.
Maximize Your Support
If your company or your spouse’s company has a matching gift program, you can significantly increase your family’s donation to FGUS and you may qualify for a higher donation category! Simply complete the matching gift form available through the company human resources department, and send it to us at:
